The design of it is optimised to draw air over the whole surface of the radiator ensuring none of your radiator core is wasted. This is particularly of benefit at slow-speeds or in other situations where a constant supply of air to the front of the car isn't assured (like going sideways for example - did we mention Mishimoto are well known in the world of drift ).
