Pirelli Scorpion Emperor Tyre - StandardSupersoft / DHWALL+2.4 Inch29 Inch
The Pirelli Scorpion Emperor Tyre is a mountain bike tyre made for mixed and changing trail conditions. Its tread balances grip, rolling speed and control. A choice of three compounds and four casings lets you tune the tyre for trail, enduro or downhill use.Key Features and Benefits:Medium-Spaced Tread Pattern: The knobs have enough space between them to work on loose and rough ground without creating excess drag. This helps the tyre maintain grip while still rolling well on firmer sections. The result is a balanced tyre for routes where the surface can change often.Balanced Centre and Shoulder Knobs: Pirelli balances the tread blocks across the centre and edges of the tyre. The centre supports rolling and braking, while the shoulder knobs provide support when the bike is leaned over. This creates a steady change from straight-line grip to cornering grip.Designed for Mixed Terrain: The Emperor sits between Pirelli's faster Black Sting and more aggressive Red Claw tread patterns. It is built for riders who face a mix of hardpack, loose soil and rough sections. This makes it a practical choice when one tread needs to cover varied conditions.Tubeless-Ready Construction: The available Emperor versions are designed for tubeless use with a suitable rim, valve and sealant. A tubeless setup lets you run suitable lower pressures and removes the inner tube. This can improve tyre compliance and reduces the risk of traditional tube pinch flats.Front or Front-and-Rear Use: The Emperor can be used on both wheels for balanced handling. It can also be fitted at the front with a faster Black Sting rear tyre. This gives riders the option to favour consistent grip or reduce rear rolling resistance.27.5in and 29in Options: The listed range includes both 27.5in and 29in wheel sizes, with 2.4in and 2.5in widths depending on the casing. This makes it easier to match the tyre to your wheel size, frame clearance and preferred tyre volume.E-MTB Ready DHWALL+ Options: The listed DHWALL+ versions are rated for e-MTB use. Their reinforced construction handles higher loads and hard impacts. This makes them suited to heavier bikes and demanding gravity riding.Compound and Casing System: The same Emperor tread is offered with different rubber and casing constructions. You can therefore choose how much grip, wear life, support and protection you need without changing the basic tread pattern. This helps match the tyre more closely to your bike and riding style. The Pirelli Scorpion Emperor is well suited to riders who need predictable control when trail conditions change. Its balanced tread reduces the need to choose a tyre for one narrow type of terrain. The range of compounds and casings also lets you decide where grip, durability, weight and impact protection should sit in your setup.Choose your wheel size first, then select the casing for the level of protection you need. Finish with the compound that matches your preferred balance of grip and wear life. This makes it simple to select a Scorpion Emperor that fits both your bike and the way you ride.Compound and Casing Choice GuideCompound Options:SuperSoft - Maximum Grip and Damping: SuperSoft is Pirelli's softest Emperor compound. The rubber conforms more easily to rocks, roots and uneven ground. This increases mechanical grip and helps absorb vibration and impacts. It is the best choice for racing, downhill use and technical terrain where traction matters more than tread life. In the listed range, SuperSoft is available with DHWALL+, DualWALL, HardWALL and ProWALL casings.Soft - Grip with Better Wear Life: Soft gives strong and consistent grip but uses a firmer formulation than SuperSoft. It provides predictable handling while improving durability for regular riding. Choose Soft if you want high grip for technical trail or enduro use without the faster wear of SuperSoft. In the listed range, it is available with DualWALL, HardWALL and ProWALL casings.Medium - Rolling Efficiency and Durability: Medium is the firmest compound in the available range. It balances grip with lower rolling resistance and longer tread life. It suits regular trail and enduro riding where efficiency and durability matter more than maximum race-level grip. The listed Medium options use the lighter ProWALL casing.Casing Options:DHWALL+ - Maximum Protection: DHWALL+ uses a full dual-ply 60tpi construction, bead reinforcement and an extra external fabric layer. The structure gives the sidewall strong support under hard cornering, high loads and large impacts. It is Pirelli's strongest Emperor casing and is aimed at downhill and demanding enduro use. All listed DHWALL+ options use SuperSoft rubber and are available in 27.5in and 29in sizes.DualWALL - Enduro Race Protection: DualWALL uses a double-ply 120tpi carcass with a rubber insert around the bead. The two casing layers improve impact protection, while the finer fabric keeps the tyre more compliant against the ground. The bead insert also helps protect against pinch damage. It suits enduro racing, bike park use and hard riding where strong protection is needed without moving to the heavier DHWALL+ construction. The listed range includes SuperSoft and Soft versions.HardWALL - Reinforced Trail and Enduro Support: HardWALL uses a 60tpi casing with bead-to-bead reinforcement and a thick rubber insert above the bead. This gives the tyre extra sidewall support and helps protect against cuts and pinch flats. It also improves stability when running lower pressures or carrying higher loads. The listed HardWALL options are 29x2.4in and come in Soft or SuperSoft compounds.ProWALL - Lighter Trail Protection: ProWALL uses an extra nylon layer to reinforce the sidewall while keeping the construction lighter than the gravity-focused casings. The reinforcement improves resistance to cuts and helps keep the tyre stable at lower pressures. It is well suited to trail riding and lighter enduro use where climbing efficiency still matters. The listed ProWALL versions include Medium, Soft and SuperSoft compounds.Team Edition or StandardTeam Edition versions use yellow sidewall branding, while the standard versions use the regular dark sidewall finish. The Team Edition name does not indicate a different tread design. Choose between them based on the compound, casing, size and preferred finish. For the strongest downhill setup, DHWALL+ with SuperSoft gives the highest level of casing support and grip. DualWALL is a strong option for enduro and bike park riding. HardWALL suits aggressive trail and enduro use where support is important but a full dual-ply DH casing is not needed. ProWALL is the lighter option for trail riding, with Medium, Soft and SuperSoft compounds available across the listed range.
